Wordy Wednesday: What Santa Paws Brought!

When Toby's gift from Santa Paws arrived, he was nervous. He's been pretty naughty this year, chewing photos off of the fridge…stealing food from the counter…consuming entire bags of treats when the pantry door is ajar…and even sneaking onto our bed.  I gave him a preview of his gift by adorning him with a festive bandana from the box. What else could he think except that more clothes were inside?

We tried to put his present under the tree Christmas Eve, but as Ted says, "The Nose knows." Santa Paws had to stash the box out of reach on the top of the refrigerator.

On Christmas morning the grandchildren were eager to open gifts. As they got interested in their toys (at 2 and 4, they don't throw each gift aside to get to the next one) there was a lull in the proceedings. It was time for Toby to open his gift, with a little help from the onlookers. Toby had gotten his very first BarkBox! He mouthed the Yule Log gently before creeping away behind the mountain of wrapping paper to gnaw on it.

Amazingly both Elf and Log still have their squeakers intact (though once our grandson discovered the log, his father labeled it "The Single Most Annoying Noise in the World", and back atop the fridge it went). Toby sampled a heart-shaped lump of coal and decided more naughtiness is required in 2015.

Toby and I wish you a Happy, Naughty, Nice, and LOVED New Year!

  14. Toby is a lucky dog! Trixie and Lily got presents too, but I had to keep them out in my car and run outside to get them on Christmas morning... because if I try to hide their presents in the house, they can smell them and they bug me for them every day until Christmas! Lily got some squeaky little tennis balls, Trixie got a squeaky teddy bear stuffie, and they both got some new rawhide bones!
