Thoughtless Thursday: Vintage Thanksgiving

I stumbled upon a site filled with public-domain vintage Thanksgiving pictures and wanted to share a few of them (and the  link to the site) with you.

I love this one. As a child it was the feast itself that seemed important. Now it is the chance to be with family that gives meaning to the holiday.

Although I don't eat meat anymore, my children do. They anxiously ask if there will be a turkey at Thanksgiving. Of course there will. My path to eating a more plant-based diet has never intentionally included ruining a holiday, upsetting my family, or causing a lack of peace (ok, open warfare) in our home.

The kids would agree. They better not say this lady looks like me or they'll be doing the dishes this year.
Dog owners, take care. Vet Tech Amber says they see a lot of clients with pancreatitis after Thanksgiving. Gravy and dressing and turkey giblets are all fatty treats that can make a dog sick. I confess that Toby eats the giblets each year after I cook them while assembling the stuffing. They don't bother him. But that's the extent of his Thanksgiving feast.
Oh no! Something tells me this turkey might make a getaway yet!

Like this fellow!

Finally, a whimsical corn mobile - perhaps Mr. and Mrs. Turkey are headed to the mall on Black Friday (not after the big dinner)! They would want others to have that chance too while feeling gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel who nobly sacrifice their holiday to be available to those who need them.

Certainly they would relish (pun intended) every moment of Thanksgiving Day, spending time with loved ones, and taking time to appreciate the good things that have come their way.
