Flower Friday: Rogue Miniature Rose

Stop and smell the roses!
Four or five years ago I spotted a miniature rose drooping in a cart with a few other wilting plants at the local grocery store. I think I paid two dollars for it. Every year since it has gotten leaves and a few tiny blooms in spring, eked out an existence all summer, and disappeared into dormancy for the winter.

This spring something glorious and odd has happened. The little miniature rose is almost full-sized and covered with brightly striped blooms! Did something mutate in its DNA?! I have no idea, but we're certainly enjoying watching this little plant flourish.

Happy Flower Friday!

  1. We've had that happen to with our rescued flowers. They sometimes surprise you by becoming the strongest flowers in the garden.
