Grammy's Pot Pie Treats from Chewy.com

Grammy Toby is writing this month's review - but I'm having the last word.

Now dearies, are you looking for a treat that will make your human smile every time she sees its name? One that warms his heart with memories of coming in from sledding to find the oven hot and baking delicious smells? Chewy.com sent me

Grammy's Pot Pie Kitchen Bites

from Merrick to try this month and they are sure to do the trick. Trust me, I'm a Grammy.

The chefs at Merrick shrunk the slices of pie -

(aren't they so cute?). They used chicken (#1), potatoes, peas and carrots, and spices like rosemary and turmeric. Merrick says the ovens are in the U.S.A. and the ingredients are from "local growers". I guess that means the U.S.A., somewhere local to Amarillo, Texas, where the bag says it came from.

Unlike the human's pot pie, there are just 16 calories per slice of this pie. Still, don't overdo if you're watching your waistline like me,  Grammy Toby. There's no corn, wheat, or soy, so these treats are gluten-free.

Now you know it's important to read labels, and my human has one bone to pick with the chefs. Ingredient #5 is organic cane molasses. She says she never puts molasses in pot pie, that would be yucky (for people, aren't they weird?). She says sugar is not a healthy ingredient she would like to see in my treats even if it is organic. Well, they are treats after allbut she was pretty adamant that my modeling fee would have been less generous if she'd read the ingredients before the photo shoot.

Now, Grammy Toby here still loves these treats and comes running like a racer when they are offered.

There are a heaping helping of treats in just one bag. You can find them at Chewy.com - just click the link here.

*Well, Grammy Toby, go get in your rocker and knit. This old grandma needs to have the last word.

I'm not compensated in any way for my review except that I was given a free bag of these treats to try. Chewy.com asks me for an honest review - well, honestly, the molasses in these treats is a concern for me. They are gluten- and grain-free, which may be more important for some readers. Every owner must make informed choices of what's right for their pet. If these aren't right for your pet, you can find lots of other healthy choices at Chewy.com.

Since the molasses is low on the ingredients list I'm going to use the rest of the bag. I strongly recommend that Merrick reconsider using sweeteners in dog treats, though.

    1. Haha I don't dress him up too often, but once I had the idea I couldn't resist. Hence the generous modeling fee...

  5. They sure look like Grammy's Pot Pie. I like some of Merrick's other treats that don't have chicken (since I am allergic). Enjoy!
