Zoo Fun With Grandchildren

We had fun despite the heat on Saturday, and the animals were surprisingly active.

Schnitz the Orangutan was celebrating his 33rd birthday and Arsema wanted to join his party.

Mareto and the white-cheeked gibbon seemed to share a secret or two.

A playful "otter" family!

I hope these two little ones grow up to care about animals of all types. We had a great day watching a variety make a fun impression on them.

    1. Yes it was great but very steamy. We were lucky, it stormed all around just not at the zoo.

    1. It sure was! Wish they could visit more often…but we're lucky they are only a few hours away.

    1. Yes we did! I didn't take pictures, but they have a huge water feature at the entrance and the kids love to play in it and cool off. We always take a ride on the train as the grand finale to the visit.

  4. Fun! I don't think I've taken my youngest to the zoo yet. A few petting zoos. I bet she'd have a blast.

    1. I'm sure there is a good AZA accredited zoo that she would love and you'd enjoy too. We're fortunate to have the Virginia Zoo, a beautiful place that goes all out to care for the animals like the treasures they are.

  7. My husband, son-in-law and step daughter all went to the zoo Sunday. I was stupid and stayed home to do work. Won't make that mistake again!
