Dear Earth

Dear Earth,
You are often unappreciated. We do a lot of unkind things to you, when we aren't ignoring you.  Please let me say,
For mountain sunsets,
and ocean sunrises;
For autumn leaves,
and spring renewal;

For mighty rivers,

and serene beaches;
For spring bulbs,
and wildflowers,

and wedding flowers;
For chipmunks,

and marmots;

For powerful geysers,
that mysteriously grow quiet again;
For seashells,

and shark teeth,
and stingrays;

For giraffes,

bugs,
bison,
and lichen;

For massive waterfalls,

and clouds;

For babies,

toddlers,

and puppies;
for healing our war torn battlefields,

and reminding us of our insignificance,

and for being resilient,

and for creatures great and small, wild and tame,

Thank you.

 Happy Earth Day 2013
