Welcome Home!

At the end of July last year Toby posted about missing our son Kevin, who had just left to live for a year in Korea.

Now at last Kevin is coming home! He spent August touring Europe with a friend and is flying home tonight. Toby's going to go nuts! I'm pretty excited myself. We've waited so long to welcome him back to the U.S.A., and we are so proud of him.

Yesterday the monarch caterpillars began metamorphosing into butterflies. It always amazing to look at the pupae and wonder what is happening in there. They go in as striped caterpillars, and come out orange and black monarch butterflies.

I wonder how Kevin will have changed in the past year. Unlike the caterpillars, children grow and change imperceptibly as they venture more and more into the big wide world. You watch them become adults without quite realizing the metamorphosis is taking place. Then, one day, you realize they are all grown up and ready to fly away.

It's going to be a great weekend around here. - and I hope your weekend is terrific also.

  3. Have a marvelous time with your son! It is difficult when they move away, but it lets you know that you raised them to be independent. *My daughter lives in Alaska & we are in Louisiana, so I do understand. ☺
